Etsy's listing photo policy, effective October 22, 2026, requires at least one unedited photo of the actual item against a real background. Other photos may be edited or AI-made if they accurately show the item. The most realistic photo should come first. Print-on-demand sellers may use a stock mockup the owner authorized. The listing form can warn on AI-detected images.
That first slot is the proof shot: the print, canvas, or framed piece you ship, photographed as it is. A CGI living room is not that shot. Put the proof photo first, then lifestyle rooms.

A 10-photo Etsy listing plan for a print

Originals, print-on-demand, and framed SKUs
If you pull the print yourself, the proof photo is your paper or canvas on a real surface. Then mock up the same file at each size you list. Do not reuse a 24×36 room still on an 8×10 variation.
If a POD partner prints and ships, Etsy still wants one unedited photo of the actual item against a real background, and POD shops may use a stock mockup the owner authorized. Your MOCKLIO export is an authorized mockup of your art under product terms. You still need the real-item photo in slot one. Do not imply Etsy endorses the tool.
Framed vs unframed: photograph each version you ship. Generate matching mockups. If a mockup shows a gold frame you do not include, say so in the variation copy or do not use that still for the unframed SKU.
